USTANOVA IMAGO SLOVENIAE – PODOBA SLOVENIJE

Imago Sloveniae, whose beginnings date back to 1988, was established with the desire to broaden and develop top musical art and comprehensively revitalize the cultural image of old Slovenian towns via live arts and cultural events. The project enriched the Slovenian cultural landscape with high level events that are thoughtfully placed in the ambience of cultural heritage sites. Through its activities, the project contributes significantly to the development of the cultural identity of individual cities and towns, the development of cultural tourism, and greater recognition of Slovenia and Slovenian culture in Europe and wider.

Through its long tradition, Imago Sloveniae has developed into one of the largest cultural projects in Slovenia, which connects more than 30 concert venues throughout the country and abroad (cultural network). It is an umbrella project within the framework of which more than 100 concerts of top domestic and foreign artists take place annually. Established traditional international festivals by Imago Sloveniae (Imago Sloveniae International Festival, Summer in Ljubljana Old Town, Nights in Ljubljana Old Town, etc.) receive recognition from the professional public, resounding media support and excellent attendance by a large, loyal audience. The social importance of Imago's work is also confirmed by its status »in the public interest« awarded by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, and the Award of the Capital City of Ljubljana for achievements in the field of culture.

In addition to the main aims of the project, such as revitalization of the cultural heritage sites with live art, polycentralization of high-quality cultural offer, accessibility, and audience development, a constant priority of the project is also intercultural dialogue, which is reflected both in the international festival exchanges of musical ensembles and in the programme design, which represents the ethnic and cultural diversity of the common European (and wider) space. Imago, as a leading or associate partner, regularly participates in large-scale international projects (European Music Summer, Voices of Minorities, MOST FEX, etc.).
